Frequently Asked Questions
-
Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, involves a collaborative process between a trained therapist and an individual or group. It aims to explore and address emotional and psychological challenges, promote self-awareness, and develop coping strategies. Psychotherapy can help individuals navigate life transitions, manage stress, cope with mental health conditions, and enhance overall well-being.
-
If you're experiencing persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, or stress, struggling with interpersonal relationships, facing major life changes, or finding it difficult to cope with daily challenges, psychotherapy may be beneficial. Additionally, if your thoughts and emotions significantly impact your daily functioning, seeking the support of a therapist can be a valuable step toward improvement.
-
A therapy session is one hour. The frequency of sessions depends on the individual's needs and goals, with many clients attending weekly initially and then adjusting based on progress. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to determine the most effective schedule.
-
Most major insurance companies provide coverage for psychotherapy. While we aren’t able to bill insurance companies directly, you will be provided with a receipt following each session that can be used for prompt reimbursement.
-
The first session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other. You'll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and your personal history. The therapist will provide information about the therapeutic process, answer any questions you may have, and collaborate with you to create a plan tailored to your needs. The important thing to remember is that you don’t have to have a plan - that’s what first sessions are for!
-
Choosing the right therapist is a personal decision. We recommend reviewing therapist profiles on our website, considering their areas of expertise, therapeutic approach, and any client reviews. You may also schedule initial consultations with different therapists to determine who you feel most comfortable and aligned with.
